These photographs are what survive of Continental Caper‘s single performance on March 19, 1959 — programs, cast shots, and stills from a show that, by design, lit up once and went dark. Lawrence Brandt and I wrote the whole thing in secret over a year and a half, and these images are the only proof it actually happened: seminarians in costume playing Cold War spies and hotel guests, the program listing a cast of fifty, and the photo of Larry himself, years before Rome and a bishop’s mitre found him.
