Palm Drive Video Photo Display Ads
From the mid-1980s through the 1990s, Palm Drive Video advertised its homomasculine fetish films the same way any underground studio proved its existence to a skeptical, horny readership: with a photograph and a phone number. These display ads, placed in the gay leather and fetish magazines of the era, were often the first glimpse a reader ever got of a Palm Drive model before he showed up, uncut and unrehearsed, on videotape. Sampled here is a small selection of that print advertising — half-page and quarter-page spreads that sold not just a video, but an attitude, an archive, and, eventually, a history.
