In 1992, the Olympia Film Festival took a chance on the underground when it invited Jack Fritscher and Mark Hemry to launch its first-ever midnight Cine X program, alongside fellow artist The HUN. The screening — a special edit sampling Palm Drive Video’s fetish film work — was an experiment for a festival better known for arthouse fare than for homomasculine erotica, and it paid off: the midnight crowd received it enthusiastically, cementing Cine X as a fixture of the festival’s late-night lineup.
