DRUMMER Masthead

Drummer was the pioneering leather and gay male magazine published in the United States from 1975 to 1999, running through three successive publishing eras — Drummer Publications, Alternate Publishing, and Desmodus Inc./International. This archive documents every cover, masthead, and contents page across all 214 regular issues plus special numbers, along with the publishers, editors, and art directors who shaped each era. Jack Fritscher, PhD, served as Drummer‘s Editor-in-Chief (1977–1979) and remained a frequent contributor of fiction, essays, and photography for over a decade; his own issue-by-issue writing credits are catalogued throughout this archive.
