Books Ghostwritten by Jack Fritscher

Long before — and alongside — his own byline work, Jack Fritscher earned his living as a professional ghostwriter, taking on projects far outside his own subject matter and voice. His work ranged from a conservative polemic on public education, where he received credit, to a foundational nursing theory text and a 1,500-page English rewrite of Catholic moral theology translated from German, both written anonymously. Below are three of the books that carry his hand, credited and uncredited alike.

• The Case Against Government Schools “Getting Politics out of Education and Education off Your Tax Bill,” American Media Publishers, 1979; Ghostwritten for Frank E. Fortkamp, Ph.D.
• Towards a General Theory of Nursing, Loyola University Press; Ghostwritten for Imogene King, MD.
• For several years Jack Fritscher was on-call ghostwriter for Newman Press, Westminster, MD; most significant work was the 1500 page rewrite in English of a 3-volume translation from the German of the moral theology texts of world-famous theologian, the Reverend Bernard Haring.
