Jim Wigler (b. 1944), photographer, trained as an assistant to Vogue photographer Frances McLaughlin-Gill in New York before moving to San Francisco in 1979 to document the city’s leather and Castro Street culture. His 1982 Drummer photo series “Red Dog Saloon” launched a career that produced thirty-four Drummer covers, including a controversial 1982 exhibition, Raw Graphics, at the Eagle bar with partner Gunner Robinson, and later the solo project Faces of AIDS.
